Upcoming Event
Say Anything

Thinking Outside the Cube
McMurry | 1010 E Missouri Ave | Phoenix, AZ 85014
Thursday, June 26, 2008 | 6:30 - 7:00 pm Reception | 7:00 Presentation

Did you know that more than half of all designers are in-house? Join us and creative directors from the top in-house corporate teams in Arizona for this special event. You'll learn about in-house design environments and how to better communicate with non-creative staff. Most importantly, we'll talk about how to cultivate a creative, satisfying and dynamic work environment within the confines of a restrictive corporate culture.

We will be recognizing the work of top in-house designers and focusing on topics that relate to design in the corporate realm. Furthermore, this event will empower in-house designers to improve communication with non-creative bosses. A panel of art directors and executives in the corporate design world will be conducting presentations on in-house design and answering questions from the audience. The highlight of the evening will be our giveaway, which is an in-house designer survival kit!

Our panel includes:
Michelle Livingston, Marketing Director, Buffalo Exchange, Tucson, AZ;
Debbie Parker, Graphic Design Coordinator, Scottsdale Healthcare, Scottsdale, AZ;
Laura Hahnefeld, Creative Director, PetsMart, Phoenix, AZ;
Heather Grant, Creative Director, Kahala Corp, Scottsdale, AZ

WHAT YOU SAID...

"I found this experience to be invaluable to the learning process as a graphic designer. It was really a Wow experience that opened my eyes to a lot of exciting of possibilities. I would go any time you offered it. Thank you again."
—Tom Freeland

"The AIGA studio tour and portfolio review was a great opportunity to find out about the real world environments that designers work in. The review helped me to identify my strengths and weaknesses as a disigner. Because of this event I now have a better idea of the kind of environment I want to work in and also the arias of my work that I can focus on improving."
Jim Truncali
Visual Communications Major, Northern Arizona University

"It was great to be able to meet new, young professionals in Tucson's design community and to engage on a one-on-one basis. It was especially helpful to trade insights on professional standards and detailed project practices—this kind of open dialogue helps us all grow."
