Thursday, April 23, 2015 / Tucson

When your clients are drowning in digital content, a printed piece with eye-catching details can make your designs rise to the top. That's why AIGA Arizona has launched Print Speaks in Tucson. This three-part series explores innovative printing techniques to make your work stand out.

For Part 1 of Print Speaks, we'll be getting together for the Fiesta del Fuego seminar at Spectrum Printing Company. Digital press expert Ken Huizenga will share hot techniques to spice up your designs, including advanced design effects, short-runs, variable data, unique features of the HP Indigo press, and more. This even includes a print shop tour and creative samples.

If you sign up by April 17, Spectrum will provide personalized materials just for you.

Saturday, May 9, 2015 / Tempe

For this introduction to web development workshop, no coding experience is necessary. We’ll start from scratch and end the day with a published website.

The workshop will introduce you to basic website structure and styling with HTML and CSS. You will learn how to version your work with git and publish a website to GitHub Pages. We’ll work with the command line, introducing you to a primary tool of developers and providing insight into the developer’s workflow.

Please plan on bringing a computer to the workshop. There’s a small bit of prep you’ll need to do beforehand that will only take a few minutes. We can walk through it with you in person if you run into any problems.

First, please download and install git on your computer: http://git-scm.com/downloads. Second, if you don’t have a GitHub account, please create one: https://github.com/ (don’t worry, it’s free!).

Taught by artist, designer, and web developer Lynn Fisher.

Snacks and beverages generously provided by meltmedia.
