Graphic Designer II – Arizona Department of Transportation

This position will conceptualize, plan and produce design/graphic presentations for print, web and electronic visual aids, will plan through final production and maintain the project within scope of deadline and budget. The position also will design and/or create graphics to meet promotional and informational needs using a variety of mediums to achieve artistic effects.

Knowledge, Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Contemporary graphic design principles and typography
- Principles of illustration
- Editing
- Proofreading
- Copyright laws

Skills in:
- Creative design
- Photography
- Evaluation of photography for artistic value and quality as well as resolution for printing
- Preparing camera ready artwork
- Proper spelling and grammar
- Oral and written communication
- Understanding of web and electronic communication techniques
- Using industry standard software

Abilities to:
- Coordinate projects, manage and prioritize workload
- Work under pressure of extreme deadlines and last minute changes
- Successfully communicate orally and in writing
- Interact with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
- Successfully operate a variety of tools and equipment used in graphic design and publications work including plotters, printers, and scanners

Ideal Candidate: Position requires three to four years experience as a graphic designer.
