Graphic Designer Principal: 02.19.07

ARIZONA STATE  UNIVERSITY seeks a Graphic Designer Principal (Job ID#10578) who, prepares a variety of skilled graphic design and layout work for the Office of Marketing & Revenue Generation within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA). Duties include but are not limited to: design, illustrate, and prepare electronic media for all areas of ICA including brochures, newsletters, ad layouts, billboards, posters, schedule cards, schedule magnets, flyers, letterheads, logos, certificates, and other promotional materials; coordinate with marketing staff in other ICA areas requesting graphic designer layout work; develop ideas & suggest new or modify existing ideas; prepare printer specs; maintain vendor contact, obtaining bids & recommending contract awards; coordinate production; ensure adherence to deadlines & specs; maintain department inventory of graphic designer supplies & equipment; provide technical computer support; provide art direction for photo shoots; set visual standards annually to fit the ASU ICA athletic brand; may coordinate or lead the work of others.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Art or related field and four years experience in graphic design and layout, illustration, or commercial art; OR, Eight years experience in graphic design and layout, illustration, or commercial art; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with: Adobe CS2, including Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign; web development tools, including Flash, HTML, PHP, MySQL, and CSS.  Demonstrated knowledge of non-linear video-editing software such as Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe After Effects.  Experience with: printing procedures and requirements; photography and photo processing techniques; rendering, illustrating & sketching; interpreting messages into visual and metaphorical form.  Evidence of effective communication skills.  Prefer previous experience working on sports-related design projects.  Evidence of knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations a plus.
