Multimedia Curriculum Designer – Suffolk Construction

In this position you are responsible for working with subject matter experts to design, develop, implement cutting edge learning experiences utilizing innovative solutions that support our company educational needs. The MCD will develop curriculum applying a robust knowledge of adult learning principles and techniques.

Responsibilities:
• Research, design and develop training experiences and supporting materials for self-directed, experiential, and formal learning to meet the needs of the business.
• Utilize multimedia technology and authoring tools and explore and evaluate new training technologies
• Incorporate the use of best practice technology to support instruction as needed
• Manage course projects from inception to completion and make recommendations for action on activities such as new instructional design technology and approaches
• Translate business unit policies and procedures into effective training materials
• Work with business units and subject matter experts to ensure final solution meets expectations
• Proofread and edit own work and the work of others to improve quality, readability, consistency, and effectiveness of documentation
• Monitor progress and evaluate effectiveness of training programs for future needs and possible modifications
• Conduct needs assessments for various business units to determine gaps, training objectives, audience needs and method of delivery

Experience Required:
• Experience designing and facilitating interactive multimedia experience
• Knowledge and application of adult learning principles and techniques
• Experience with authoring tools a plus (e.g. iBooks Author, Captivate, Lectora, Articulate, Dreamweaver etc.)
• Bachelor’s degree required and Masters Degree a plus
• Experience in training or educational environment preferred but not required

Qualifications:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation skills
• Knowledge and experience in adult learning theory
• Knowledge of creative and innovative approaches to learning (e.g. gamification)
• Excellent project management and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, problem solve and handle multiple tasks with ease
• Ability to work within a collaborative environment and work within aggressive time frames
• Construction industry experience a plus
