Join the Tallwave team for a free PHXDW lunchtime workshop during the Beyond Design Conference!
As designers, we launch our products and services after months of empathizing, research, and iterating in order to improve the lives of users in a meaningful way. But what would you think if you found out that many of the design solutions created every day — even those with the best of intentions — can often lead to negative consequences for our planet and resources? It's time to ditch the linear way of thinking and begin to imagine a world where all materials, parts, products, and services don't stop being useful at the end of their lifecycles. Come learn how to shift your mindset, identify circular opportunities, and eliminate waste from your own design solutions. Topics include:
- intro to circular design
- finding circular opportunities
- circular design brainstorm session
This workshop is generously sponsored by Tallwave and includes lunch if registered by Monday, 9/24. Registrations will still be open, but we will not be able to order lunch for any orders placed after that date. Limited to 40 Phoenix Design Week / Beyond Design ticketed attendees. We ask that you please be respectful of our sponsors and the catering department, and only register if you will definitely attend. Lunch selections include sandwich, salad, or wrap; mark choice and any dietary considerations on order form.
About the Presenters
Jen Walsh is Design Director at Tallwave. A 19-year veteran in the digital world, she's experienced in all aspects of the design process. Over the years she has worked her way through many roles, including front-end developer, interactive project manager, and QA lead. Finally finding her passion in User Experience research and design, Jen has spent the last 11 years as an advocate for the end user. Over the past 7 years, she has fallen deep into the world of design thinking, coming to love and focus on the effectiveness of lean design. She understands that while there may be multiple possible solutions to a problem, there’s a right way to get to the a solution that benefits both the client and their end users.
As a Senior Designer at Tallwave, Alyssa specializes in weaving user experience design, visual design, and design thinking together in order to solve the needs of both the customer and the business. Alyssa is passionate about contributing to a positive future, socially and environmentally, which led to a master’s degree in Sustainable Design and developing the capacity to approach design challenges by integrating systems thinking, biomimicry, and life cycle analysis. Alyssa also loves learning about food systems and spent a couple of years volunteering with a local organic farm.
Chelsey, a Senior Designer at Tallwave, comes alive for frustration-free interfaces and effectively empathizing with users. During her career, Chelsey has helped create impactful and innovative solutions for some of the world's largest brands as well as small, local non-profits.
