Overview

As a Sr. UX/UI Designer for University of Phoenix, your design skills will influence improving the prospective student experience. You will empathize with users and craft simple, creative solutions for complex challenges. You will work on projects from concept to execution, assist team members with projects that are in motion, collaboratively influence other teams and team members to have a broad impact on the prospect experience, while also maintaining and growing a new design system. Your work will focus on mobile first, but you should be passionate about expanding features to create true multi-device experiences that move with the user from one device to another.

You will be working collaboratively with a close-knit team of visual designers, writers, front end developers, product owners, project managers and other disciplines in the organization to bring our products to life and deliver a favorable experience across all devices and touch-points. Our team is excited to welcome a curious, creative, and driven designer as we build experiences for individuals around the world looking to earn a degree in higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Understand user problems, create wireframes, design high-fidelity mockups and interaction specifications
  • Define and maintain detailed design patterns that scale
  • Assist with brainstorming sessions and presentations to drive design, demonstrating features and flows
  • Understand and respond to data (metric tests, usability studies) to inform design decisions and recommendations
  • Experience managing and working with a Design System

Qualifications

 Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience
  • 4+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, product designer or similar role
  • An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating great user-centered design solutions and patterns from mobile devices to desktop
  • Experience creating personas, journey maps, process flows, and user stories
  • Proficient in prototyping and design tools such as UXPin, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar
  • Knowledge of usability principles and WCAG guidelines
  • Strong skills in visual design
  • Experience working in a collaborative team, leading white-boarding/problem solving workshops
  • Ability to work directly with developers for implementation of design
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience partnering closely with other teams to work towards positive outcomes and propose well-informed new directions
  • Experience in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Familiarity working in an Agile environment and/or SAFe Agile framework
  • Self-motivated team player
