Education + Mentorship


AIGA Arizona’s Education Initiative focuses on support of academic programs, educators, and students. In a state that covers a large area of land, we both benefit from having multiple design programs and are challenged in building a community by distance.

The Mentorship Initiative features several events including the annual Portfolio Review and a series of Mentorship meet ups.

Portfolio Review 

The statewide Portfolio Review is held in March at five locations including, Arizona State University – Tempe, Arizona State University – Polytechnic (Mesa), Grand Canyon University (Phoenix), The University of Arizona (Tucson), and Northern Arizona University (Flagstaff). Design students and emerging designers (with less than 5 years experience) get their work reviewed by local design leaders in 10-minute sessions.

Mentorship Meet Ups 

The AIGA AZ Mentorship Meetup events provide our design community with leadership and learning opportunities. Each event will focus on a topic chosen by the community. Design leaders in the topic area will be selected as mentors (panelists). Serving as a mentor (panelist) is a great opportunity to get experience at public speaking and mentorship. Mentees (participants) will discover new insights into a topic of interest.

Made a connection at the Mentorship Meet Up? Want to chat more? Sign up for Mentorship AfterMeetup. This first-come, first-serve, limited space opportunity connects mentors and mentees for a 30 minute, one-on-one Zoom session.
